Have you ever been stuck in a bucket? If these tree seedlings could talk they might grumble, “How long do we have to stay here?” “Will you stop rubbing up against me, please?” “I’d really rather be in the dirt!”
Can you relate? When you and I get stuck we become bored, irritable, and dissatisfied. Thankfulness is far from our lips.
So, how do we get out of the bucket? Just like seedlings, we look to one greater than ourselves. God possesses the “out of bucket” view. He knows how to lift us out of our predicament. He also knows exactly where to plant us for growth. Then, even though we find ourselves in the dirt, Jesus sends living water down to our roots to help us thrive.
Let’s not get stuck in a bucket. We can look to the One who’ll give us new life and help us grow. Then we’ll be thankful.
“Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness” (Colossians 2:7 NLT).
